Exeter, Devon, England

I’ve been chatting with Benjamin online today. We’ve never done that before. He is one of the few friends to whom I have given my grandparents’ phone number. Since my arrival here a couple of months back, we’ve enjoyed long-distance conversations two or three times a week. After hearing about my accident, he tried to call and was told that I could not come to the phone because I was in quarantine, confined to my room for two weeks. So he made contact online.

Clarice Reardon I have not heard from. I did not expect to. When I left Mexico City last winter, we said our final goodbyes. I think that she was secretly relieved. Her jealousy had been making her miserable for ages. Perversely, she prefers to live without me than to share my affection with anyone.
